Technical information

Installation
Cembonit Cladding Panels should always be installed using a ventilated construction method, allowing for a 20 mm hollow air gap between the substrate and the back of the panel. Also allow for a minimum 6 mm gap between sheets at both horizontal and vertical joints. All framework must be securely fixed, and provide a true and level surface for the panels.
EPT rubber underlaying strips should always be used on the supporting structure, directly under the Cembonit Cladding Panels. Recommended sizes are:

Fixing details

Fixings and fastenings
The recommended stainless steel fixings for Cembonit Cladding Panels are screws or ring shank nails.
For screw fixings, pre-drilled holes 2 mm larger than the screw thickness are required.
For nail fixings, a 4 mm diameter hole, pre-drilled by a slow speed drill, is required.
Screws – stainless steel

Nails – ring shank 2.5 mm thick

Decoration
Painting
Cembonit can be painted, if required. However, it is essential that an alkali-resisting primer be applied to both sides of the sheet, along with all edges, prior to painting. Nail and screw heads should be filled and all dust removed from the surface. Two coats of paint usually give a satisfactory finish. The following types of paint are suitable: pva, acrylics, pvc, chlorinated rubber, polyurethane, epoxy and silicate.

Handling and storage
Cembonit cladding panels should be stored and handled carefully to avoid damage to face and edges, and they should be placed on a dry, level surface until installation is started. The sheets should be kept either under a roof or well covered, to ensure protection from dirt, moisture and one-sided drying.
Handling and working
Dust is minimised when the following tools are used: circular saw with dust cover and collector keyhole saw/jigsaw for cutting large holes universal saw for cutting small quantities hole saw for drilling holes for sockets hand-scriber with hard metal point carbide tipped masonry drill.
Face masks are recommended when there is no vacuum extractor or when large areas of boards are being cut
